This is an example of a configuration aimed at searching DNA sequences using BLAST and searching protein domains using HMMER.
This is a machine configuration for searching DNA sequences using BLAST and protein domain searches using HMMER, provided by a customer involved in plant breeding research. It is assumed that multiple users will access the machine via a wired LAN. The query sequences for BLAST are expected to be in the range of hundreds to thousands, while the database sequences are around 100,000. For HMMER domain searches, a query sequence of about 100,000 is anticipated.
The configuration is also capable of performing de novo analysis, but if this is considered a high-priority requirement, it would be advisable to equip it with the maximum memory capacity of 128GB as specified.
Additionally, if it is used for network access and only as a small-scale simple server within the laboratory, this configuration can be a cost-effective choice. However, if it is expected to be used by a large number of people, the specifications will clearly be insufficient. Depending on the importance and operational methods, a more robust server configuration is recommended.
The configuration in this case was developed based on the conditions provided by the customer. Please feel free to consult us even if you are considering different conditions than those mentioned.
